Needs a wee bit more curvature on the sweep forward and also on the vertical axis IMO (and to flatten the edges, of course).

Looks a decent base design for one, though.  (Defo needs a bit of vertical curve, looking at it again)

Looks Terran to me. What are those extrusions along the top and bottom? Not a Vasudan feature... things don't generally stick out on Vasudan ships...

Typhon.

You can have that sort of thing on Vasudan ships, I think.  You just have to try and keep to a rule of never having edges meeting at ~90 degree angles, or it looks Terran.

For that... I'd thin the midsection and add a short-s-curve there, then flatten the edges (extrude and flatten, rather).  That sticky-out bit at the top I'd recess the rear smoothly into the main hull, and add a recess to the still-sticky-out front.  And also probably add a bit of a bulge around the engine section (top and rear).... it can be made Vasudan, I reckon.

When I clicked this, I was afraid of some Terran-looking concoction. And I was right :D :p

Seriously, needs a lot more skinny bits, curviness, and smoothness.

No. Not really. I just went over the Typhon. It has one section on it that's extruded, and even then, it's well integrated.

Rear fins on the sobek do. :p

Though I agree with the general sentiment of the thread - this doesn't look Vasudan.

Well, yeah; I didn't say it was Vasudan as-is (it isn't), but it can be with editing and blending.

No, don't make it "SOC".  In fact, other than special paint-job fighters (of which there exists a mainline fleet variant) SOC ships should look just like an ordinary ship of the line.  The idea that a covert ops organization would have unique ships is really stupid, because anyone that encounters them immediately knows who they are.

As for that ship, it really looks like a Higeran Frigate from Homeworld 2.  Not necessarily a bad thing, but the design does not lend itself heavily to any species in Freespace.

Doesnt look vasudan.

Vasudan design ues lots of ovaloid domes, this model could be changed to make it more vasudan by making the front more like the sobek but the back has virtualy no hope.
actualy, mabye not.

At least for me, a requirement for a game being fun is that the stuff making some phucking sense. But maybe that's just me.

This is just a very early basic model. I'm adding more detail to it, but it's gonna takea  while..

LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth, Pirates, some FS2 campaigns I downloaded recently, my own campaign and real life (read - TESTS, TESTS!) have ganged up on my free time and sent it to intensive care in a comatose state....
