But that requires modelers to make many different LODs for each model. Otherwise, everyone gets to use LOD0.

I just cant concentrate on Trek models 24/7. Out of mental break down and recent Battlestar Galactica caze (EXCELLENT show BTW) I decided to start and FINISH modeling the Viper mkII all in one shot. I can't stand being on a singular project for extended periods of time.

Its funny though reguarding you people's posts about polygon count excessiveness. When I finished the Hammerhead at 800 poly's I hear complaints about it being too little. I go spontaneously psycho for 8 hours and dish out a 2800 poly Viper and I still see the complaints. I can't win can I? Oh well, can't please everyone Either way i feel good. Thats my second home brew model. I feel skilled again.

Yeah but for some people sliding that control down a notch is like admitting they've got a small dick or something


Actually the detail slider only becomes useful once everything is high poly. Otherwise low poly models starting at LOD1 are going to look really ugly.

I don't like fredding.  I'm sure I can make a mission. And it'd be halfway decent, but I absolutely hate doing it.

And there's nothing wrong with standalone mods.

I wanted to know how long it would take me to make a basic Viper, so i went and opened TS. After about 2 hours, this came out:





And don´t worry Omniscaper, i have no intention of highjacking your thread. The Viper was just for fun, i don´t plan on taking it any further than this. I just wanted to see how hard it would be to build one from scratch.

Tanx ppl.  The pictures have the time on them. The first one was 4 hours into it already. The joy of having the actually reference pictures just fed my OCD.

Swampthing,  Viper, 2 hours........ in TS!!!??   You get a gold star and some cookies. You built it in Truespace and that in itself is  quite a feat in my book. Hate TS with a passion. You should have made a Cylon raider instead so mine got something to play with. I'll time you..... begin... NOW... =)

It probably would have been smarter of me to just build the darn thing straight from memory to get it built faster. Without the reference pics my obsessive aligning and strategic polygon placement and vertice planning would not have consumed my OCD. Then adjust it accordingly afterward using the pics.
