Looks good, though I like the original version better.

I agree with Singh here, lovely model, but I tend to find 600-1000 is about right for fighters, though I suppose you could have a 1000 poly Lod1 and use this from below 50m or so?

for SCP? more like 2000-2500. 2889 is a bit much, but still playable.

Well, I glady use 3000 polys per fighter, coz my PC can handle that easily :p Do I need any other reason? :D
After all, lods are there for a reason, and the first one should come fairly close with the ships I do ( that said, I never provide tbls, so that's up to the modder, granted ).

LOL Well, my card can handle the extra weight of very high poly Lod 0's, but if theres one thing I hate, it's Doom 3 syndrome, where you have a 'normal' framerate and a 'in-combat' frame-rate...

If the two are different enough to be easily divisible like that, then it sort of ruins gameplay for me, after all, if anything, I'd err on the side of lower poly models for the sake of smoother high-action gameplay. Imagine that  Battle of Endor game, and how unimportant it was that the ships were 150 poly flat-shaded?

It's all down to personal preference, but that's my thoughts on the matter ;)

I guess it´s all hanging on individual systems, isn´t it? My system can handle the load, and so i rather look at ships with a tintsy bitsy more than 10 polys. Because a few people have lowsy systems, should all of us eat out of the smaller bowl?

Perhaps the SCP guys can fix this, by entering a new code line where people with slow systems can choose to use LOD 1 as their lower poly LOD 0. How hard would it be to implement that?
Those with fast systems would run the game on full detail, while slower system users would use the model´s LOD1 as their primary LOD 0. It´s just an idea.
But i still think we should always aim higher, aim at higher detail in making our models, than the other way around. It is very rare these days, to find a gamer with a system that can´t handle a few more polys in a 5 year old game. Why should the majority of us gamers suffer because a few guys can´t handle the extra load?
:blah:
No Freespace 3 ?!? Oh, bugger...

We have a detail slider in the options for that, y'know.
