The design process - as you can see - continues.

I'm gonna make sure as many people as possible like the design and it's got enough expandability and multi-purposeness to be worth the cash.

I'll talk to the printers about best-rates and start shopping around, once I've finalised the design and done a few different cards.

No point in getting print-quotes if everyone hates the cards.

I'm not entirely sure.

Originally, I wanted 52 - to use as playing cards. But that proved to be horrifically expensive in 100-deck runs.

So I've scaled it down to 20-card decks, as I can fit 20 cards on a single A3 sheet for printing. Then get them cut and rounded. All for cheaper than getting a 100-run of 'business cards' for each different card.

Like I said though, **** will change depending on what the printers say. They don't offer double-sided printing on super-large sheets as standard. But they might do it as a special order. Which means I could get a whole 52 set printed per sheet, cut and rounded - all for a decent price.

Plus I could keep some full sheets back and hock 'em as special prints.

How many decks would you have to buy to have a playable deck?

Depending on what the printers say in regard to larger print sheets: For now, it's just a collectible 20-card deck. Though you can still use 'em as Top Trumps cards.

Because of the small size of the run, more cards means proportionally greater pricing. So I'm having a small number of cards per deck so the forumites (who're mostly poor) can cough up enough cash for a pack.

So I'll probably get the 20-card 'collectible' decks done, see how well they sell - then decide if I'ma make a Second Edition Starter Deck with say 30 more cards.

But like I keep saying: If the printer will do me special sheet-runs of entire, larger decks for a decent price, I'll make the decks bigger.

If I do it the easiest way and get X number of cards done in 100 runs, it works out at £3.40 per 10 cards and I have to raise

If I get them done in 250 runs, it works out at: £1.60 per 10 cards

500 runs: £1 per 10 cards

Runs/Packs - Cost Per Card - Total Cost Per Run
100 - 40p - £40
250 - 18p - £47
500 - 12p - £58

So to find out the cost per X-card pack, times the middle number by X, and add 80p for the box.

To find out how much I have to ****ing raise to get them printed, times the 3rd number by X cards per pack and add XRuns

So for a 500 50-card packs, I have to somehow raise £3K to get them printed in the first damn place.

And then there's my added costs of gluing up the flat-cut boxes and putting one of each card in 'em.

Well, as a note of interest, I can get 5000 50-card decks done for £9681.50

And 5000 decent boxes for £467.59.

So if you can find a company that's willing to pay £10,149.09 to have their name plastered all over the 5000 boxes (and maybe a few of the cards, if need be) - we're laughing.

Oh and I've e-mailed the printers to see how many cards can physically fit inside the intended box.

I'm hoping it's at least 30, otherwise I'll need to get custom boxes done that're deeper.
