There are only really 2 things that could scupper this:

1 - My inability to do work
2 - The weak dollar

~$13 might be a bit much for some. Still, it's not exactly extortionate. The STCCG packs run for about that.

Well, the price isn't the problem for me. Quite cheap actually for a starters deck (I'm assiming they are M:tG-like quality here and not simple print paper).

I'm probably getting them done on 350gm (normal paper is like 60gm) smooth card, double-sided, maybe laminated, round-cornered.

Basically, they'd be of a very slightly lower quality than MTG and STCCG cards for cost purposes. Probably a little stiffer too.

The place I'm gonna use isn't some asshat operation. They're good. My dad had 'em knock out 50,000 voucher things for one of his businesses and they were top-quality.

The only problem is gonna be the boxes.

I might make the cards thinner, use 400gm for the boxes, have them laminated, cut and folded - then just glue them up when they reach me.

That should save a bunch of cash.

EDIT: And I can apparently get a 100 run of cards done in metallic for +40%. So I could have them run off 100 "Derek Smart" cards or something as specials.

The problem for me is generally Shipping rather than the initial layout. I rarely buy things on the net as I object to paying prices greater than the price of the item I'm buying just to have it sent to me (on cheap stuff like this anyway).

But if shipping wasn't ridiculous, I might give it a go.

EDIT: Hmmm. If I were to get each card printed individually, in runs of 500 with 130gm card, that'd be roughly £35 per run, which would mean I could hock 'em for £4 a pop after rounding.

Say another £1 a pack for the boxes and that's £5 a set[/b] for custom HLP Playing/CCG/Top-Trumps cards.

Not too goddamn shabby.

But for that to work, I need 500 orders. Which there's no ****ing way I'll get.

As a point of interest, I can do them for 50p per 52-card pack if I get 100,000 packs printed off.

Y'know, it might actually be worth designing a proper CCG. Magic the Gathering and Decipher must be ****ing raking the cash in. Make 'em for 10p a pack, sell 'em for £7.
