The truth is Typhoon and Typhon are one and the same. The diference is that Typhoon is the english name for Typhon.

Typhon is also the father of hot dangerous winds (Greek "typhein" to smoke), which were extended by the Persians and Arabs to include the cyclonic storms of the Indian Ocean, hence English typhoon.

I'm going to guess proper spelling is debateable, too, since the closest entry to "Tauret" is "Taurt"

Pretty obvious to me why they got confused. The Sphinx is pretty strongly associated with egypt even if the sphinx the greek legends refer to isn't the same one.
