itis black metal (well sort of) they dont want to be supported. i find that all the re-releasing of old black metal albums recently is mostly by the lable and i very much doubt that the bands get any sort of cut. perhaps thats different for bands like primordial. as much as id like to support a band, i feel all im only supporting is the already fat wallets of the music industry.

What are you listening to?
Belle & Sebastian; If She Wants Me

I'm still trying to find a convertor to mp3-ize the singles album off cd, natch.  Otherwise it'd be The Loneliness of the Middle Distance Runner or Judy is a Dickslap.

 Gotta love those song titles...

Google for EAC (Exact Audio Copy) and LAME - they'll give you the best quality rips. :) Guide to using them is on ubernet.org - they might have the files for download as well.

Fair enough, I suppose. :) Most of these small labels don't make much money anyway, so their wallets are hardly "fat". I'd say the only "alternative" labels that are properly rich are Nuclear Blast and Century Media.

But besides that, I'd much rather have the album than a folder of mp3s. I want something tactile, with artwork and liner notes and stuff. Hell, I buy vinyl, and that went out of fashion at about the same time I was born..

Kappawing: Nice. Megadeth finished with Hangar 18 at Download. 'Twas awesome...

Dragonforce - Black Fire (This is power metal, but played at black metal speeds. Slightly daft, but good nonetheless. Their guitarists are ridiculously good...)

id go vinal if more record lables supported it. its still the best sounding recording media out there. if you take care of your records and change your needle alot they can last a hundred years. i converted old records to cds for my grandparents. i was rather impressed at the sound quality on theese things on an old record player that hadnt been used in years. converting them to digital just kills em. you can get alot of black metal on vinal, which is good, but theese days it costs more than a cd. i would buy music when the industry pulls its head out of its ass, offer records, tapes, cds, mp3s, hell even 8 track, and returns prices to where they once were before they hiked the price (they used the advent of the cd to do this). i find it ironic that digital media backfired on them, by making music easyer to rip to other more pirateable formats.

What are you listening to?
Cat Stevens - Lady D'ibonville (or something like that)

This is quite a sick necrophillic song, if you take it literally.

Anyway, It's typical Bush Administration policy not to let anyone with a name like Yusuf Islam into my country. I suppose the so-called "government intelligence" behind that was "Uhhh... If hiz name soundz liek a terorizt den he muzt be a terorizt! Duhhh!" It's really quite an embarrassing move by the Bush Administration, considering the fact that Cat/Yusuf has a spotless record and all he ever sang about was peace. That was probably it. One more anti war liberal out of the country is one step closer to the evangelisation of the nation, typical Bush mentality.
