The usual, bland and laid back looking people are the best candidates to be spies - however let's clear up the issue.

Do you speak of a spy inflitrating a foreign nation and recruiting agents or the traitor who steals whatever the higherups demasn for good money.

Read Viktor Suvorov's book Aquarium on the issue: it will reveal that there's nothing to the whole drama and romaticizm of this business that the press/media or the blockbusters try to make it.

Tom Clancy is a freakin' prophet, he pretty much predicted most of the stuff that happened around the world in his book.
9/11 was somewhat predicted in his "Debt of Honor" (whatever the title in english is, i'm translating), and Iraq2 a few books later (wrong premises but...)

Well at least The Bear and the Dragon hasn't happened yet. That one probably wouldn't be too pretty if it actually happened.
