Author Topic: FS2 error  (Read 1202 times)

Haven't played FS2 in awhile, but always had it installed on this computer.  Worked fine last time I tried it, way back whenever.  Now when I run it, I get this error:

Error: Couldn't open texture 'fighter06-01d'
referenced by model 'fighter06.pof'

File:C:\projects\freespace2\code\Model\ModelRead.cpp
Line: 1802

Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

Any suggestions?
I have FS2 v1.20 installed, FSPort 3.2, Freespace Open 3.6.

PS - if I run it from the old FS2 shortcut, the game gives me that error - if I run it from the Open Launcher, it just crashes out.

fighter06 is the Herc, isn't it?  That should work with vanilla even if you've got mods installed, unless the herc texture that it's finding is too big for the default install.  I suspect that either the crash in FSO is unrelated or that you've somehow got a corrupt install of the port or the media VP.  If you can run the SCP, do so, as it's better in virtually every respect.
