Can't think of any big stars that were inserted into the movies...

Besides Patrick Stewart, William Shatner and maybe Brent Spiner but they essentially became a star because of Trek.

Which is exactly my point. When you have a long running series the people playing the major parts become famous to the potential audience.

If they ever get around to that Stargate SG-1 movie does anyone think they're going to be asking Kurt Russel and James Spader back?

As JMS says there will be a Babylon 5 movie. If The Magic Roundabout can get made into a movie I have no doubt that B5 will eventually manage it
