GTDr Swarmer

Description:
After Cappela, GTVA realized that they are outnumbered not only in capships, but also in fighter and bombers squads. During Nebula and Cappela combats high command have counted that by one GTVA fighter there was 15 shivan crafts. One year after cappela a small corporation Universal Robotics inc. have done a greate breakeout in AI research...

...few years later GTVA R&D team has begun testing new combat drone that is similar to myrmidon in firepower and shields, less armor and secondary banks(it able to carry 2 cyclops), but 10 time cheaper.

I like the general shape but it needs some refining. Try to make those tailplanes look less like a pair of rectangles.

Change the front so that it doesn't end in quite as sharp a point too. Maybe add some guns along the inside of those wings so that they don't look so pointless.

Hmm it looks entirely too big for the guns it's packing... Size needs to be refined a little...

Meh. To be honest, it doesn;t really grab me an awful lot. The concept's workable I suppose, but the model needs to be reworked pretty severely. Though I do like the top down view - the thoth like outline could be reused for a decent TV hybrid sort of look.

:bump:

Nice idea, maybe get rid of those front 2 triangles and put some turrets/guns on the back rectangles.

If you want some ideas for really good looking drones look at the Dumb drones on Macross Plus. Or even better the drones of the drone frigat of homeworld or the some of the other defence sats and stuff of that game.

Also why the atmospheric getup?

If it is a space drone it will be less limated by G's the piolet can tage so should simply be a gun platform with  thrusters on extremities so it can effectively have a zero ternig circle and be hugely manuverable.

Sorry to be harsh but its a really clever idea but i really dont like the model.

I like the general shape/layout, but it needs more detail.

While an OK design, it seems too...generic, I think. It's a very simple ship, with a very simple (i.e. overused) design, so it needs some stuff to make it stand out. Maybe sensor pods, antennaes, "eyeballs", etc.

What you have there looks a lot more like a standard fighter without a cockpit. Which is okay I suppose. Personally I envisage combat drones looking somewhat different. I'd make them much more basic. Cylindrical in shape with a gun on the front and an engine on the back. I'd stick them in a crone carrier cruiser that could launch loads of them in a short space of time by firing them out of torpedo tube like launch tubes. That would fit the designation "Swarmer" a bit better.

Bear in mind he's trying to make a drone built by the GTVA - so being simple, bulky and generic isn't a bad idea.

I was. That's why I didn't comment on the wings in space thing :). My concept would probably not be something the GTVA would do though in all honesty. They don't have nearly enough imagination.

Think gun platform with engine like one of the guard guns in FS but with and engine. Cover a ship in them and simply spine the ship to dettatch them givving you an instant fighter screen, a fresh ship and a very cheep launch and storage system.

Well, I don't have a free time to upgrade it now, but I'll do this later. I made a decission that this will be the first ships that I'll try to put into FS by myself.
