Wanted to put the -dshowvid flag in the launcher, but this piece of shareware keeps telling me it has never heared of such a flag

Nope. Just way behind the times

-dshowvid is ancient. None of the modern builds use it. (Instead they have -dnoshowvid to turn off movie playing. By default it's enabled).

If your movies aren't playing it's probably cause you're using 3.6.5 which has a bug to do with showing movies. I suggest getting this build instead which is basically 3.6.5 with the bugs fixed.
