None of this "chicken walker" this or "Battletech" that.  This is a real mech!  ^^;

>>;  Hush!  That's weathered steel and iron, not dough.  No one would make a mecha out of dough.  Burns too easily.  <<;

The opening point of that bazooka reminds me of a beef whistle.

Very good!  I did take some components of the Zaku in mind when I designed this, mostly as an homage.  The most obvious of course is the monoeye.

And also, Japanese robots really aren't supposed to be taken seriously.  Oo;  They ARE fun, and that's why I love them.  A lot moreso than American "mechs" I think.

i think i prefer Battlemechs that are meant to be taken seriously.  This looks like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man wearing partial armor.

hrm, that was either done in flash or photoshop with a pressure sensitive tablet... i'm guessing the latter for pure crispness, but i could be wrong.

interesting design, but, i'm not gonna go over the physics of mecha anyway :p

do not torment the sleep deprived artist, he may be vicious when cornered,
in case of emergency, administer caffeine to the artist,
he will become docile after that,
and less likely to stab you in the eye with a mechanical pencil

You are indeed wrong.  It was made with Flash, and all I used was a trusty mouse.  ^^;

i thought as much, and don't worry about the physics of 'mechs and mecha.. i'm with the party of people who don't think most mechs are tactically viable above 10 feet, if that, great for civvie use, but for military/law enforcement, you'd want something that can walk through a doorway...without taking the building with it ;)

Oh to be sure, they aren't tactically sound at all.

They're just really cool.  ^^;

I suppose tanks aren't tactically viable too?

tanks are perfectly suited to their roles.. if a mech can cross any terrain, isn't that what the catapillar tread is for?..

mechanoids aren't really that useful that big.. they're just big, walking
targets.. knock one down, and it does itself damage from its own wieght.
10 feet tall would be the absolute max.. 8 feet tall powersuit/exoskeleton would be more suited for combat roles.
tanks are low profile, relatively  low maintenance, and easier on a technical scale.

that said, mechs would be more suited for civvie roles

but we can discuss that in another thread.

We did, I think.

IMO, by the time we have the tech for mechs, we have the tech for vastly superior alternatives based on extending the basic principles of tanks; the problem with mechs is that the legs pose a gigantic achilles heel, and you have to balance armour with flexibility for them.

Although they are ****ing cool machines :D

Of course it's not the Bazooka you have to worry about, it's the streaker standing on it's right shoulder. That's the weapon of Mass Destruction ;)

I thought it was the person throwing stones on the shoulder that you had to watch out for?
Dubbed the Mk2 Hobbit. ;)
