well, before there was just red, blue, and green. Then Samuel L. Jackson asked Lucas if Mace Windu could have a purple one, cause it would be cool and different, so he let him, and now everyone wants lightsabers to be every color of the windows 8-bit 256 color palette.

Eh? We had multiple colors way back in '97 or so with Dark Foces II: Jedi Knight. And of course the other EU stuff has different color blades too.
