What is the procedure for getting changes added to the vps?
As the topic says, I'm curious how one gets changes/additions/corrections integrated with the basic distro.  I'm currently looking at doing a revamp of the FS2 campaign, and I spent ten minutes updating at correcting the ship setup text for guns.  Since it removes nothing from the game, and doesn't change any in-game values, I'd like to submit it to the vps.  But I'm quite n00bish when it comes to this sort of thing.

It really is up to WMCoolmon really. Although I have been known to update the VPs occasionally, I would not introduce changes to the campaign. As I said this is a call WMCoolmon would have to make.

Should I PM or mail him?

While they're universal table changes, nothing ingame at all is affected: just the select screen flavour text has been altered to provide more information.

There's a fair chance that a change to the tables will require multiplayer validation.  I'm not exactly sure what actually gets validated though, so that may be neither here nor there.  PM him for starters, though I suspect he may comment in this thread sooner than later.  Usually the best way to get a change in is to post it for public distribution for a while, so that everyone gets a chance to try it out and determine if they like it or not.

It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here

Well, thats embarrassing.  I can't work out how to attach files to posts, and now my ignorance is revealed to all.  :)

I'm aware of the multiplayer validation problem, but I'm not actually sure what the validation involves.  Does it checksum the tables against official versions on the master server?  It gives ME a hacked table error, even when I'm hosting.

Something like that, yes.  Though it's a fairly simple process to validate a new table from what I understand (if you ever actually catch Kazan), everyone must be using it in order play one another and in principle you want as few versions of the tables validated for multiplayer as possible.

As for posting something, you'll need webspace.  HLP has attachments disabled.

I've just reinstalled my server, so it'll have to wait to after mids to get httpd working again.  I wonder if I could trick photobucket or something... :)
