That said, this always strikes me as the exact opposite of the story of the woman who gets out her unused wedding dress every year...

Edit : This timewarp thing is really starting to annoy me, is there any way we can Email Gspy en masse about it or something?

The end result was his statement that he was testing the waters for another combat space sim.

His upcoming Universal Combat game, according to him, is more action-oriented.

Personally, I think he did want to have the FreeSpace liscense but Interplay was asking too much for it, and the negative response by the gaming community as a whole, not just this site, led to his changing his mind.

I've been in touch with them about it already - from informal testing I did, it seems that the server time of the dynamic6 server is 5 minutes ahead of the times of the other servers. Thus, any of you who are accessing HLP via the dynamic6.gamespy.com address should be quartered and shot. :p

Derek Smart really bugs me. I've been trying my best to pull him into a flamewar, but so far I've failed miserably. What ever happened to the good ol' days when simply mentioning his name anywhere on the net would light the fires?!

That's actually a very bad idea.  While flaming him can be fun for a while, it's not worth it in the end.  Unless something else develops, the best thing we can do as a community and for our collective sanity is to forget that the incident ever occured.
