I done this last night at 12:30 :o . My second try drawing a female body. (Nope I won't show you the first one).

Am-I going better on my sketches?

Yay, another Canuck! :D
You need to work on proportioning, I think.  Then again, we all have our different styles—I mean, I'm more anime motivated in terms of body parts.  On the facial features, make sure you leave enough space between the eyes, nose and mouth, because the mouth and nose look a little far and the eyes too close the fore head.
Another thing, the hair seems to cut off the skull.  Make sure you get a rough outline for the entire skull, then draw the hair over top.  Took me a while to understand that.
And even so, still this girl at school keeps tearing apart my drawings with criticism. :mad2:

Aha, here's an example of what I mean!
Yeah, it's a little weird since it was done all on the PC.

Looking good. :)

I probably would agree with Marauder's advice with proportioning the head correctly though.

I might add that the hair seems like it needs some more work too. If your going for a spikey / messed up look try adding in each strand to get the details in.

The rest of the body is pretty well done, though maybe fatten up her bum a bit. Just keep it curvy.

Nice work. Keep at it! :D

Not bad either Marauder! ;)

Coddling is bad.

I may sound kinda mean, but I think it looks horrible. You can do better.

Now, it looks like you're going for a slightly Anime-ish style (if the eyes are anything to go by).

The Head in particular seems to be where you need the most help (the rest is good for a start). First, her neck is far to short and wid, and her shoulders a bit too rigid. Try increasing it's length little by little in later sketches till it looks right to you.

You've also put too much space between the eyes and mouth, and the nose is a bit too large. Apart from making her look bean-headed, this has the side-effect of making it look like she has no forhead. The eyes should be lower down the face (Think: A hair above the middle. Just a hair.) The mouth could be a bit closer to the nose as well, while shrinking the chin.

The hair...Well, I can't comment on the hair atm, because I can't pinpoint exactly whats wrong with it at the moment.

The legs are bent a bit unnaturally, as theirs nothing really there to indicate its bending forward. This kinda gives an effect like it's been broken.

As for the Wings...well, if they were meant to be Bird/Feathered Wings, you messed up. I know this may sound boring to do, but try showing the individual feathers. It'll really help. Also, the feathers shouldn't be quite that pointy. It's got way to many sharp edges, whereas Bird wings look better with a slightly more smooth and curvy approach (here, I'm talking about the Wing Joint).

The Gun is a completely different issue, so I won't go into that.

So, all in all, what Marauder said.:)

I think the legs are okay angle wise. The bum just needs to stick out a bit more. So as to gain that sex appeal look. If you pursed the lips, made the face looking more forwards rather than the egypt style so we can see both eyes, you could maker her winking also. Make on of those hot babe portraits kind of thing.
But I'm just rambling...

I disagree. There are no tones or lines to indicate it's bending forward. Which is a problem.

For the head yup I agree with you it needs a lot of work. For the wings, since it's a quick sketch and that at 12:30pm I usually don't think about drawing all the details, maybe it's because of that that they don't look very feathered. tho I almost always draw them like this for the shape. I redrew the head I dunno how many times lol so when I finally got something from my pencil I decided not to erase it again. But in my next sketches I will try making it better. The legs are bending forward btw.

I knew I would be better staying on drawing cars and ships...

But Drawing toon people is more fun. :)

personally, I found www.bakaneko.com to be rather informative. Thats where I learned the basics for Anime-styled heads.

lol Carl.

The legs. Ah k. I thought she was in a 'really gotta pee' stance, but the sexy version.

As for the heads, its just a matter of planning out what your going to draw. Take the time to do light primitive shapes and lines to determine where to draw the features of the face.

Too bad you arn't drawing fox people, otherwise Turnsky could of offered a hand no doubt. ;)

Will. Never. Happen. :p

Besides, the techniques displayed in that link can be adapted to most styles. It's good for the basics, I said. If you don't want to do anime, fine. Not like it matters :D

Okay before we draw the guns and start shooting ourselves lol, I am not drawing animes. My "style" if we can call it like that is slighlty based on it tho. But I don't plan drawing animes! I'm drawing a couple of sketches now... I'll show you later.

Both tutorials are very helpful for me!

i think the important thing to learn is structuring your characters properly, drawing things freehand first off without any framework, bad idea.. trust me, i speak from experience

I spent an hour reading through that website tutorials that you posted the link for Turnsky. Some very good tutorials and general tips in there. Some of it has the anime style, but most can still be applied to conventional sketching as well.

Good find! :)

I'm reading trough the tutorials now... trying to assimilate as much as I can. But I want to discover parts of it by myself.  But they sure help a lot! Right now I'm short on time so I draw at school. It's like: Drawing, listening, drawing, listening. Pretty hard to concentrate on the class and my sketches at the same time! But I should make it. As soon I finish something, good or bad, I'll show it up.

while leaning towards anime a tad, it's proven to be invaluable to me, as its teachings were the basis of my work. so i swear by it.

I've got to agree with Turnsky.  Just use framework for a while.  I did, and over time, framework sort of...faded out.
