Pax Americana in the Middle-East.
So says Efraim Halevy, former head of Mossad and advisor to Sharon.

In a visit to the United States two weeks ago, I was told by several well-informed observers that should one of the more severe scenarios come to pass, the United States will have no choice but to deepen its presence in the Middle East. To that end, it will have to renew the draft, to ensure that there are enough forces to deal with developing situations in countries like Saudi Arabia.

ation of President Bush to act consistently to realize his policy in Baghdad. There is a good possibility that Iraq will not be the last country in the region that will require a lengthy American military presence. The U.S. campaign in Iraq was perceived as a signal of long-term American commitment to do whatever is required and to stay in the "neighborhood" for as long as needed. It was none other than Martin Indyk, the former U.S. ambassador to Israel, who not long ago raised the idea of establishing an American trusteeship regime in the areas of the Palestinian Authority, if it should turn out that the Palestinians are not ripe for self-rule. That arrangement would require an American operational military presence along Israel's border with the Palestinian territories.

What is Haaretz anyways?  It'd be nice to see multiple sources...

Ha'aertz is one of the leading Israeli newspapers. And there's no other source cause it's an opinion article, not news. I probably should have put a dislaimer somewhere, this wasn't intended as news, just an interesting article considering the source..

If you're whining about a lack of guns since you can't improvise your own weapons out of paperclips, bubblegum, and cellphone batteries, you don't deserve to be in the rebellion :p

Then again, you're probably one of the people who voted for the reason this rebellion had to be started in the first place. :ick:

Oh, I think I could - I'm an engineer, after all.  But guns would make it so much easier. ;)

Only partially.  I voted for Bush in 2000 but Badnarik in 2004.

You can only be halfway in the rebellion then :)

Which means you can engineer the anti-matter bombs, but not use them. (only half the fun!)

Canadians are welcome to join in. We need the man (and woman ;7 ) power!

Quite frankly, they'd have to draft at gunpoint. And if they did that, how could they claim to be any better than the people they are fighting, the mask would be off entirely.

Exactly why there will be no such thing as the draft.

Point number two. I'm sooo resisting the urge to elaborate :p

Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.

I suspect all they'd need would be an appropriate 'national security emergency'; i.e. something to make it look a forced decision and rouse up patroitic urges.

Hmm... now, if you asked me, I'd say that reads "the people have the right to bear arms IN ORDER TO have a militia (i.e. what's now the National Guard)."

Then again, I suppose a rebel group would be sorta a militia, wouldn't it? :D
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Technically, yes.

Now building that rebellion... ;7

They can't do that these days. Your ass pleads you not to do it.

They can, actually.  If you are gay, and in the military, it's a don't ask don't tell policy. They won't ask you, and you don't tell anyone, and you can stay and fight. Even if it's blatantly obvious.

However, as soon as you tell them, they still have a 0 tolerance policy, and will kick you out, probably with a dihonourable discharge... :p
