Logitech has updated thier Setpoint drivers on the 5th.  Interesting, since they havent updated Setpoint since november last year.  Anyone try them yet?  I'm on 56k and the download looks scary for me.

also, my ms mouse serves me well, and I wouldn't ever go with logitech. that is totally beside the actual point of this thread. my mouse works fine with the built-in drivers.

After having trouble with Logitech MouseWare and iTouch, I decided not to install any Logitech drivers until general consensus is that the drivers are good. Like that'd happen.

I own lots of Logitech peripherals, like mouses, keyboards and game controllors and all work fine with standard Windows drivers. They make good hardware but blow in making drivers. Resembles me of certain video card maker years ago...

I've been using the new MX-1000 cause I was extremely dissapointed with Microsoft's latest explorer mouse.  I used to be a die-hard user, untill they took the clicky-ness out of the scroll wheel.  Trying to use your scroll wheel in games for weapon selecting or anything is just about impossible.  If you scroll it slow, it wont change.  If you scroll it fast, it zooms through the entire list.  wierd.
Anyways, I wanted to go wireless too, and it's been a good mouse functionality wise, it's just been a little squirrely under windows.  Like it's a bit TOO sensitive.  

If I could get away without using Setpoint with this mouse, I would, but I need Setpoint in order to run Logigamer, which allows me to customize every single button on the mouse to do something different than what Setpoint allows.  it's necessary for my keyboard-mouse combo in Freespace.

Yep MS shot themselves in the foot with the new generation.  I've always used their mice in the past, and they owned Logitech big time, but now, with the sheer amount of pressure needed to make the scroll wheel button work, they just suck.

And don't even TALK to me about Apple's round 'hockey puck' thingy, that thing was an abomination!

Right now I'm using Wacom pen and Logitech MX700 which sucks.  I hate Logitech's stupid programming! stupid, stupid, stupid ****wits!

For the love of God, why can't anyone make a decent mouse with GOOD programming?!?

That's what I'm hoping for with these new drivers, some better programming. It looks like they've added a bunch of stuff that's kinda included with the new Razer mouse thing, like on-the-fly mouse sensitivity adjustment (if you have a 518) and other things.  But is it really worth it?  hmm.  
I guess I'll play guinea pig/early adopter like I always do and see what it does.  Thank GOD for System Restore.

Not had a problem with my MX-1000.

Actually... the thumb rocker switch is meant to cycle through windows on the taskbar, right? That only works for the tabs in DC++ for me.

actually I got em set for App Switcher, Refresh and Backspace. You can use that Logigamer program to map any key on the keyboard to a button on the mouse.  It's pretty nice, and free.  
In freespace, the thumb rockers control throttle, and the middle button selects next hostile target.  wheel left changes primary bank, wheel right changes missle bank, cruise up is unmapped, cause when I press the wheel down sometimes it hits cruise up, and cruise down is select next friendly.  Wheel press is dual-fire rate change.

I don't understand why Logitech can't do what Microsoft does - make an application specific, switchable setup.  It is hugely annoying to have keyboard mapping on the mouse buttons, and then have to switch every single game to use exactly the same keys...

Anyone know how to configure the big thumb button on an MX500 to act the same as middle click using the standard MS drivers? It works that way under Win98, but under 2K/XP it's become a back button. Argh.

I haven't had any trouble assigning the thumb button in games when using default XP drivers, unlike with Logitech drivers when the thumb button would simply refuse to work.
