Ah, but your task is not yet at an end!    Your list doesn't include both the common and Bayer designations for each star. I think this is important, because Freespace uses a mix of the two.

For example, Alpha Centauri is also known as Rigel Kentaurus, Adhara == Epsilon Canis Majoris, Mirfak == Alpha Persei, Beta Aquilae == Alshain, etc...

I assume you already have this site bookmarked.

Ribos...that name sounds familiar.  Ohh yeah!  It was that planet in "The Last Starfighter"!

Actually, I believe Ribos can be traced back to Star Trek as the likely origin.  Of course, I could be wrong.

Son of a... and I made it into a vital Sol system! I don't have time to change all the Antares references... was it populated in the game?

Populated?  Likely it was the front line during most of the 14 Year War!

  • What is this? I don't even...
Isn't Vega a relatively young system? I thought it was supposed to be a star surrounded by a nebulae. Ive heard something about it before, cant remember many details

I read somewhere that Vega is NOT surrounded by a nebula but by a disc of dust and gas, probably the start of the creation of planets around the star.

I got my source from a book about space.

If it's a cloud, it probably is what's left of the nebula it came from. Protoplanetary discs are - well - discs.

Oh yeah, you don't mind if I put this in the encyclopedia too, do you E? You will definaetly be credited for them - right at the top of the document where everyone will see your name.
