the reason is simple really, while the shivans fought the ancients the snuffies observed - and when the GTA and the NTF were fighting, the Snuffies observed.  

In the dark expanses several parsecs from where the Big Bang took place the Snuffies's army of millions of sathanas sized ships are powering up, preparing to eliminate all that stand in their way

The GTA and the NTF never fought each other. The GTA was disbanded in 2345 and the NTF rebellion began in 2366.

GTA! No doubt about it!

The GTA commanders were actually sane!  
No offense to my Vasudan friends, but ever since the GTVA formed the ration packs started tasting funny.

BTW, I don't know what a snuffleupagus thing is but I know what its for........
