I'm assuming you have the number, yes? Try simply googling it - often scam numbers will be posted on a forum dealing with scams and the like to warn other people about them. I've had a few, and they've always come up on these websites.
What are the messages about? Usually a scam will want you to reply, so it'll ask you to.
To quote;
"what ar u doin
what ar u goin
as on friday me
cindreller
elanor snow
white see ya
soon xxx"
"my number iz
07891647583"
"did u get my
mob num ? beth"
"switch ur phone on"
Odds are it's not a scam, just typical dumb text; albeit if you were bright (evil?) enough, it'd be easy to set it up to have sms replies as a false-subscribe to a premium rate service, I think. The complete bollocks that forms the 1st message made me suspect that.
Now, I think it's just a wrong number. Even if for god-knows-what reason a mate of mine was to hand out my phone number, I doubt it'd be to someone this thick (looking at said texts). Thing is that sending a reply would cost money, and I literally have about 1p on the phone and I only use it for receiving calls now (don;t have a leccy top-up card either, so can't easily get more credit without buying the £50 vouchers which are now the only ones available).
There's one other thing, though; I've had 4 of these messages, and 3 attempted voicemail messages (I presume for the same) in the last couple of days. Now, whoever this girl is, she gives the instinct impression of the desperate stalker personality; I may be doing the poor bastard these are intended for a service by ignoring them.
On the other hand, I could gain some amusement out of it as well....
