mission-type requirements?
Does anybody know the minimum setup requirements for a dogfight type mission?

I'm working on adapting a solo/multiplayer mission I made for training a while back into a purely dogfighting mission but I can't seem to get it setup the right way.

I have 12 fighters and I tried having them on no wings at all but FRED2 wouldn't have it. I tried setting up 3 wings of 4 (Alpha, Beta, Gamma) but when I loaded, only Alpha and Beta were allowed to be edited and their primary weapons were missing and couldn't be changed.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Can't see what you're doing wrong either to be honest. Not much of an expert on multiplayer though.

Multiplayer questions are something you'd be better off finding Cetanu for as if he doesn't know the answer probably no one does (Or at least no one outside of :v:) :D  

One question that does spring to mind though is to ask if you've remembered to tick the player start box for each ship in Alpha, Beta and Gamma wings.

You need to allow the weapons in the weapons list, and click the button that says "Lock" in te Ship Selection screen so it lights up, then you should be able to change whoever's weapons you want.

those were the first things i checked... there are only 12 fighters (player ship is checked on all) and only 5 FRED controlled cruisers. in the game, when i attempt to reassign weapons, it just keeps telling me that the ship can't carry whatevery type of weapon you want on it, even the Subach HL-7.

can you tell me how you setup your dogfights missions?

When did these problems start?  (Probably in an email I haven't gotten around to reading yet) -

Anyway, it sounds to me (unless you fixed the "I can't play any multiplayer missions problem) that you might have some corrupt files from your install.  

another possible work around would be to make 999 of all weapons available - erase beta and gamma wings - and then recreate them with the defaults

then let the player alter the weapons ingame.  

I know (because I have played these missions) that you added gamma wing to lower the difficulty level - and that you were probably thinking of adding strong lasers to the AI wings - so I would encourage you to try the default loadout.  

Basically - if you haven't tried it yet, try just leaving the weapons alone.  (My only thoughts and sorry it took so long for an answer from me)
