Blaggards, Rogues (as said before), Bucaneers, Vipers, Cobras (I'm not sure what's most applicable to mercenaries; the former 3 are more pirate-orientated).

Independent Defense Corp (IDC), Kronos Arms Manufacturing (KAM), Antares Defense Systems (ADS)

Vega Industrial Manufacturing (VIM), Vega Industrial Services (as an alternative to the former), um... not sure on this one  

NB: doesn't need to have a name with the location IMO; think of how few big companies (national) have their location as part of the name

1: Give the Mercenary company a name, like say Astral Escort and Security, and then call them AES Alpha, AES Beta, AES Gamma.  Mercs tend to be paramilitary and as such will use military-sounding designations.

Forget the name of the systems, you are right. Its very extrange to see the name of the country in today's companies' names.

But not necessarily the state.  Especially with "dirty" roles (mining, industry) I still see a number of firms operating as "Carolina" whatever.  It probably varies from place to place, but it's not as uncommon as you might think.

Weapon Industry:
ADS (Antares Defense Systems)
Mining Companies:
STX Exploration
MRA (Mineral Refinement and Adquisition Corporation)
Robotics Industries:
RAD or RADCo (Robotics Assembly and Distribution Corporation)
BAc or BA (Baranec Acquisitions)


Any suggestion? Which abbreviation do you preffer?

Cartel implies the wrong form of orgainzation.  If it's just a mining corporation, the best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) would be "Stone Mining".  I do, however, see the obvious sillyness in that name, so perhaps the best course of action would be to change the surname or drop it alltogether.
