I was cruising around the tech database when I noticed something about the entries for\referring to the Leviathan.  No entry specifes that the Leviathan is a direct offshoot of the Fenris class.

That said, isn't it hypothetically possible that the Leviathan could be a completely seperate model of cruiser than the Fenris?

Yep. Don't have FS1 installed but I do have the port.

"After the Vasudans began making incursions into GTA space, command decided that it needed a new defensive cruiser.  Changes to the Fenris led to the GTC Leviathan line of cruisers, produced as mobile defense battleships.  Their speed and maneuverability were greatly reduced in tradeoff for more powerful weapons and a stronger hull.  Production was discontinued when the GTA thought they would win the Vasudan war after the Battle of Gulnara, and then the production was started up again after the defeat at the Talania system.  Because of the on-again off-again nature of this vessel's production, almost all of the Leviathan Cruisers have different armaments, but all have consistent hulls and speeds.

I resurrected the base model from one of aldo's modeldumps, cleaned it up, added a little of my touch, and resulted with that seen here.  Just need to add the turrets and textures and it'll be done.

Comments?  Expressions of awe toward my greatness?

P.S.  Aldo, if you read this, you've got to clean up your models man, those duplicate vertices are a #$%^& to work with.

Interesting model. Not quite sure if I like it or not yet. My immediate impression is that it's too symmetrical - left to right and top to bottom (at least in the middle). Try changing the central superstructure so that the top and bottom are different.

I like that better. Now add some details - specifically to the engine pod and the "joining" parts that link the bow, middle and engine together - it screams "six-sided cylinder" at the moment. Try adding some ribs or beams or something. Nothing too drastic, just slight extrusions along the length or around them. Also some armour plates, some observation decks or docking ports and the like. This could be a nice cruiser if you get it finished....

No, honestly not.  Just began fiddling around with it and well, that's what came out.

I was thinking of making it into a middle-ground cruiser.  Good for strikes, but can also kick ass in a defensive role.

I know I have to turret and texture, but anyone have any name suggestions?

Hell, pick something: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_gods

Also look at Roman and Norse names, as well as looking through the list of Royal Navy ship names. There are literally hundreds to choose from. Just pick something that sounds good and hasn't been used before.

Can I just make a suggestion? How about, rather than a ship that excells on both offensive and defensive, why not make it balanced, and give it a weakness in one type of combat and a strength in another?
