Jeez. Isn't there any sort of public outcry against this sort of thing over there? I mean there are enough religious fanaticists over in the US; surely they'd at least have something to say about this ****?

Well, a cult is generally a special sort of sect. Anyway, I agree:

[q]Dictionary.com:
A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.[/q]

I was referring more to the contrast between state/federal government in the US (states don't nearly have as much power in Australia, for instance). But what you say is true too. What these people believe is, literally, atrocious.

well this and that fucker Hatch.

Utah's not as bad as you think it is (seeing as I live here), and whats the grudge that you hold against Hatch?

The strange thing is, they need to prosecute a hell of a lot more people than Jeffs.  I could drive 15 or so minutes from my house and find neighborhoods of polygamist people, yet anything isn't done to them.  Why aren't they prosecuted, I thought it was illegal?

Hatch is known for having the weirdest ideas about tech. I believe he's the one that wanted the gov't to be able to remotely destroy your computer on whim.
Science alone of all the subjects contains within itself the lesson of the danger of belief in the infallibility of the greatest teachers in the preceding generation . . .Learn from science that you must doubt the experts. As a matter of fact, I can also define science another way: Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts. - Richard Feynman

Good lord...thats very disturbing.

This and the Zimbabwe widespread community destruction for voting for other parties has got me never wanting to watch the news again.
