Need Help With Viruses!!!
I've had a lot of trouble with viruses for a couple of months now, and i've dealt with getting my connection getting blocked for too long now. i'm afraid to do anything since the viruses are infecting some of my computers critical components (explorer.exe, rundll32, etc), and i have too much **** to restore my comp to 'factory-fresh' condition. help?

I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. Um, virus cleans?
You seem like a vrius-prone person...anyway, AVG Antivirus, and Spyware Search and Destroy are both free programs you can use. You could also just get the files you want, scan them and clean them, then erase your computer and reinstall.

Are you behind a physical firewall? If not, you might want to consider getting a router.

AVG, any anti-spyware software, and Zonealarm as a firewall

dunno where to get zonealarm. :nervous:

the AVG trial won't let me update the virus definitions, adaware won't delete this dll called DrPMon.dll (probably the key component of the ABI virus), and norton sucks...

give me some names here...

Zone Alarm

As for the rest. Restart your PC. Press F8 a bunch of times and boot into safe mode. Run your virus checking and adware removal there.

Grab AVAST and MS Antispyware, restart in safe mode and let the scan&hunt begin!

Cobra, a good away to avoid virus is NOT to visit those XXX warez sites. Those will bury you under a huge pile of popups, and it´s very easy for a person to click the wrong place when in a frenzy trying to close down the massive popup assault on your computer. Clicking the "X-close" button only makes it worse.

[RANT]
I hate popups!! Popup creators should be hung by their balls, tarred and feathered, and then left for the vultures to pick their bones clean. But popup enabled virus creators should be shot, plain and simple.

:ick:
No Freespace 3 ?!? Oh, bugger...

Yes, yes, AVG is your choice. It automatically updates itself, if the programme detects a new version is available.

*is reminded to install AVG after reinstalling the whole computer*

Need Help With Viruses!!!
*suggests AVAST and to pay a visit to www.grc.com to check with shieldsUP if the firewall is working well*

That said, the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool is good for a quick fix before the antivirus scan... It will remove the most common viruses and ease the AV task.

Watch out if you leave your PC open for prolonged times as Zone Alarm as a nasty memory leak that will slowly eat up your RAM...

Make your RAM inedible. That will prevent ZoneAlarm from eating it.

Norton = Resource hog

I use Mcafee Virus Scan corperate edition. It has a low profile and doesnt constantly leech off of my system resources.
