What differnces are there in the OEM version, and where can I get it, and is it worth it?

Of what, FS2? The biggest is probably that two thirds of the game are missing...

Of the originial Freespace, it is called Freespace Darkness Rising I think.

Darkness Rising only lasts up to the mission to capture the Cain-that-I-forget-the-name-of.

I don't think it has the Demon, Lucifer, Hercules, Ulysses, Valkyrie and soforth.

The OEM does have all the ships, but if I remember correctly, the ship.tbl that comes with the OEM lacks the data for most of the ships.

Hovewer, this can be easily fixed by applying the full version tbl (that you can get with, say custom models that have the full tbl attached), because the models themselves ARE included with the OEM. So with a little bit tinkering you can almost turn the OEM into full version, minus the multiplayer and the full main campaign.

Though, the campaign problem can be "solved" as well. A couple of years ago, when I still had the OEM, I applied the FS1 mod "Main campaign Co-Op" from the Volition Archives, modified the campaign file to make it single player, and there! The entire campaign was playable with the OEM, albeit lacking all the cutscenes beyond Act 1. This is particially made possible by the fact that FS1 doesn't require CD2 to play the latter missions.

The same you have in FS2, too, there was 2 OEM Versions for FS2.

Freespace 2: Colossus I think it have 7 Missions, when i'm remember

Freespace 2: Neo-Terra - 6 Missions, incl. the Loop.

FS2: Colossus I think has Act 1 from the full game in its entirety. I'm not entirely sure though, as my memory of what missions belong where has blurred together. I know you get as far as discovering the Knossos portal (and the Shivans beyond it), including the mission with Kappa wing and the NTC Trinity, and I'm fairly certain you get the missions with the Suicide Kings after that as well. If I'm remembering correctly then it ends right before you're supposed to transfer to that weapons testing squadron. I'm not sure if it includes the first SOC loop though.

I have the OEM version of Freespace 2 : Colossus, though it's been awhile since ive played it. I know there was no loop. i remember playing through into the nebular (trinity), hmmm i think the last mission was when you had to escort those 3 cargo/gas miner ships to the colossus's position, and this levi comes through blocking the node. I also remember command saying something like "This is the begining of the end for the NTF", in the last mission, i think.

ah, I still remeber the splash screen after you exit the game.....

I also remember i had this OEM of Descent 3 :SOL and there was this freespace movie in it, too bad i dont have it anymore, i think it was unique because it was playing before you entered the game, or something, meh
