Wireless network setup question
Ok, finally getting broadband, and i've gone out to buy everything i need minus the cable model (which they suppply with the service)... So in front of me, i have A linksys wireless g router, a wireless 6 pc card receiver, and a wired linksys print server (for the usb printer). Now, i have to set this up to get 2 laptops (one via the pc card, one via integrated wireless g card) onto a network so that both can use the print server (which will be wired directly to the router and printer).

Now the question is, do i set up the network as one without an internet connection, and make it all work, and then change it over to use the modem, or so i set them all up so they can use the modem while wired, and then switch over to the wireless?

Wireless network setup question
tbh I'd concentrate on making the router do it's thing with the cable modem and wired network before bringing the wireless stuff in the mix. This should be relatively easy, just plug the modem into the routers WAN port and then alter a few settings in the routers web-based configuration screens. Once that's done it should be relatively easy to introduce the wireless devices into the mix.

You'll need to lock the wireless stuff down pretty tight if you want to avoid people leeching your bandwidth. With only two machines router support permitting, the best way of securing the WLAN would be to make the access point only accept connections from the MACs of the two laptops.

Wireless network setup question
ok first of all, that usb print server is a pain in the ass to setup.

secondly DO NO USE THE LINKSYS software, only the drivers. Have SP2 installed. Use encryption. For best results make sure your laptops are on the same level of the house. Any other question contact me on IM.
