iam sorry but i searched the forum and didnt find any faq or tut to get started with SCP and freespace

so i would like to know what i need to download and install for Freespace to get started
ive played the game about 4-5 years ago and the SCP looks veeery promising

iam no noob when it comes to computer stuff but there is just so much different stuff out there and i cannot find any good guide of what i need and so on

ok thanks i still dont know how to install those .vp files i found on a ftp  linked from this forum

i suppose those vp files enhance the models and stuff
do i just drop them in the Freespace base dir?`
btw ive got FS2 Open to work with the newest build downloaded from this forum

Yeah, all you need to do is put them in the main FS directory. You should see the other vp's that came with the game there, too (DO NOT  get rid of them!)

Don't download the VP files from the FTP. YOu can get them here instead.

If you're looking at the VP files on Fractux's FTP they are probably old and his bandwidth is better served being used by people trying to turn the downloaded HotU version of FS2 into a full version.
