You're right as far as it goes.

Solid inner core, molten outer core, then mantle and crust. Gotta have some sort of fluidity in there or you don't have any magnetism, and thus no magnetosphere, VanAllen radiation belts or protection from cosmic rays and solar wind. In short, we'd all be toast.

In theory even a solid core that was molten for a time can hold a magnetic field for a decent amount of geologic time.

If the core is molten, where do the air bubbles float up to?

Actually, this is something I've always wanted to know - what happens to gravity as you get closer and closer to the center of the earth?

after you go below the surface, the earth no longer acts as a point source of gravity. you will be pulled on the sides more and more the closer you get.

As you go deeper and deeper into the Earth you'll find that you weigh less and less.

There is no net gravity inside a hollow sphere because at the centre the pull from above you is equal to the pull from below you.

If the Earth was hollow they'd still be no gravity anywhere on the inside surface either. The same rules would apply. Although the "ground" you were standing on would pull you down the "sky" (I.e the rest of the planet) would be pulling you up with an equally strong force.

That's why whenever you see people mention Dyson Spheres they're always having to put gravity generators on the outside surface. If you didn't everyone would just float off and be slowly pulled into the sun. Also pretty much rules out the Hollow Earth theory too.

Because the Earth is solid however you do have a bigger force pulling on you from "below". The centre however would still be weightless and the pull of gravity would lessen the closer you were to the middle. If you were to fall down a shaft that went all the way through the Earth you wouldn't pop out on the other side. Air resistance would slow you down too much so you bob back and forth and eventually come to rest in the middle of the Earth :)

Well, not my fault you chose a palladin. Warrior or priest would have been a much better choice, as I have done. :p

It's not that the armour isn't nice. It's just not 6-hours to get to Lucifiron because your group is totally pants nice.

That sounds like an awesome ride.

Assuming the air pressure didn't kill you and you didn't run into any walls. :p
