I did read it afterall... Velocity, Life and Subsys factor are different. Cyclops#short is a special version, balance issue, as Raa said

The problem was my ignorance loading order, not use of the wrong bomb (which wouldn't have explained the missing ship entry anyway). I've renamed the *.vp file appropriately, updated the file in my webspace, and the issue is resolved.

Now, it's time to move on to bigger and better projects, and may I never have to putz with technical bugs in Second Front again.

The wiki entry doesn't cover the use of the Freespace2\Data folder and it's subfolders or the use of the main FS2 folder though. I'm assuming the true order is

(mod)
(mod)/data/(correct path)

Actually, shouldn't Freespace2\ come before Freespace2\data\(correct path)? Though this may change when using the "mod" flag.

That's possible. I've never put loose files in there so it's hard to tell.

IIRC the hierarchy for mod and freespace are the same. But I'm not 100% sure.
