While eating lunch today, I realized how similar the two are. I'll explain:
Freespace Events will be explained as if in any normal paragraph, however next to a particular event, the similar event that took place in real life will be in (parentheses).
In the beginning of Freespace (The days when Freespace made its debut) everything was in order. The terrans (FS community) had a home, Sol (VBB), in which government and economic power (tech support, mod development) was centralized, with each of the other star systems (websites) using sol (V) as a reference point.
During this time the Terrans (FS Community) were at war with the vasudans (Interplay). The war had been fought for an extremely long time, with both sides suffering heavy losses. However that would all end when a third species, the shivans (THQ) entering the scene. This new race led to the destruction of vasuda prime (interplay) and the collapse of the sol node (vbb closing).
After it all ended, the Terrans (FS Community) searched for a new home. Many settled in various systems (websites) but one eventually became our new home, Capella (HLP). The BETAC Treaty (Source Code Project) Centralized power within our new order of things.
There was also a coup by the GTI (Derek Smart) to seize control of the post-sol (VBB) provisional government, and dissolve the terran-vasudan treaty (FS3 stuff)
There is no word of a NTF (HLP) Rebellion or second Shivan (THQ) Incursion that I know of, however.
Is it possible that by creating this game, V plotted the course of their own future?
