Wow, that sucks. As far as I know my ISP could care less.

My ISP would be in way over their heads if they tried to pull that bull**** here. They're several million users all within 50 square miles.

Aren't they not allowed to spy one what you are downloading?
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

They can do whatever they want since the Patriot Act requires them to actively search for any indication of terrorist activities.

I believe Dr. Hubert Farnsworth said it best:

Oh, my, yes!
So as through a glass, and darkly
The age long strife I see
Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.

There are only 10 types of people in the world , those that understand binary and those that don't.

That BSG was so awesome, I was able to force myself to overlook ridiculous plot points like--

Running cable between two computers magically allows Cylons to hack into them.

You can't calculate a jump to known coordinates unless you're physically sitting where the jump was calculated in the first place? WTF?? :doubt:

this was like the second BSG epp I've seen so corect me if I'm wrong here, based only on what I've heard.

weren't they able to hack into the newer hardware? hence why the Galactica was the only one still alive, cause it used old stuff. I was under the impression that the network hooked into some newer hardware that was vulnerable to hacking but faster, and when it was unplugged it would be like unhooking a modem. that was what it seemed like to my, admitadly totaly ignorant, eyes

No, they explicitly said they were just networking together computers that normally operated in standalone mode.

I wonder if the writer is really that ignorant about how computers work, or if he just hopes nobody will care?

This seems pretty damn obvious. You have to know where you start to get to the other end correctly.
