You can't calculate a jump to known coordinates unless you're physically sitting where the jump was calculated in the first place? WTF??

this was like the second BSG epp I've seen so corect me if I'm wrong here, based only on what I've heard.

weren't they able to hack into the newer hardware? hence why the Galactica was the only one still alive, cause it used old stuff. I was under the impression that the network hooked into some newer hardware that was vulnerable to hacking but faster, and when it was unplugged it would be like unhooking a modem. that was what it seemed like to my, admitadly totaly ignorant, eyes

This seems pretty damn obvious. You have to know where you start to get to the other end correctly.
