I haven't played a game since that gave me that feeling of claustrophobia and dread. The sequels were too samey to be interesting.

I should probably rephrase that; I do think SH1 is a great game. I just don't like it as much as the other ones. It didn't really scare me, and the story didn't grab me. I'm not sure how the sequels were samey though. Well, the gameplay of 2 and 3, certainly, but 4's was fairly different. Besides, SH is all about the story (and, well, the horror, but I found 2 and 3 strongest in that regard...) and I'm not seeing how any of the stories are particularly 'samey'. I think each of the games tell very different stories.

The Legacy of Kain series is in my mind the best. Mafia is also high in the list [rant] Although i don't really see the point of GTA-style games. To me, they are lika EAs FIFA series - Same ****, different day. I don't see what people are so hyped about. Also, when you cram the words b***h, s**t, f**k, motherf***ker, homie, ****** all into one sentence, doesn't make a game cool  :ick: [/rant] So GTA sucks, Kain rules and Raziels life is totally FUBAR.
Bet ya can't stick it

All of those (except for KOTOR) I grew up on, and they have a special place for me.
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

Super Mario 64. It is simply all that a 3D Mario platformer should be.

Also Starfox 64 (Lylat Wars in Europe), it is insanely addictive and I stilll find myself going back to try and beat my high score (summat like 1650 now). Only things I dislike about it are that in Europe it runs slower (its the old displaying every frame but PAL can only display 50 fps as opposed to 60 so game runs at 5/6th speed on PAL problem), and there is a lot of FPS lag caused by explosions and other 2D effects. But its ace on an emulator cos there's no fps lag and it runs at a constant 60fps yippee! Star Fox Assault isn't a patch on it. When will they learn all we want is Arwing, Arwing and did I mention Arwing?!

Can't wait for Shadows of Lylat :D

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Anachronox? Really? I loved the demo, but when I bought the thing used, I couldn't play it because the first CD is scratched in just the right way to make it fail to install. Maybe I should go and down load a copy...

Star Raiders? *cream* The game that started my controller fetish. :D

Well, you can get new copies of it off eBay for around $5 these days.

If you do get the full version, be sure to grab the unofficial patches. The initial release was insanely buggy, but one of the programmers kept working on it long after Ion Storm Dallas was dissolved and got it into a mostly-stable state.

Awesome game. Everything about it is obviously the work of some very dedicated people.
