IIRC, Steak was not the prime target (pun intended), it was Sandwich.  Told him to go back to NAMBLA  or something.

EDIT:  The quote was meant to be an edit.  Double posting sucks.

hmm.....long time since I've been a n00b, but still, the one thing that has to be said about this community - even if it's not the best out there, it definately is one of the best around. :)

I don't know just how much a newb I ever was...

I lurked HLP for, IIRC, over 4 years, so when I finally got around to posting, I already knew all the in-jokes and such (or most of them, at least). Overall, the place was a very very friendly enviornment, though during my time in HLP I've seen a few members take they're initial misgivings over newbs a bit too far.

Everyone here is very close knit, and there are a ton of colorful personalities, which is what makes this place so much more interesting. Many talented individuals, as well.

Of course, not every place is perfect. Even HLP has (had) a few undesirables. But not nearly as many as most.

As an aside: Regarding Setekh and Raa and Post counts: How did Steak ever get such a high count? I don't remember the last time he posted with any frequency. :p

Never underestimate the power of an admin ;)

on a more serious note i am glad to see that people feel more welcome here, we have had some pretty big downtime when people flamed and bashed eachother and threatned to leave the community, but that seem to have decreased to a minimum.

BTW does anyone know what happend to Tiara? Did she leave us permanently this time?

The thing with Cobra (aswell) is he appeared at pretty much the same time as penciprick (or whatever his name was).

I thought he liked Sandwich more than any of the other Admins. IIRC Sandwich made the most effort to avoid the ban.

Uh, not that I would know 'course. Um, I've never heard of Pelican Bomb or whatever. And I never read private stuff that may or may not be posted there :nervous: :p

Well, as I said, IIRC :p.  Yes, I remember now that you bring it up, that sandwich was the one he liked the most.  It was quite a while ago, I guess I got the two confused.

er... I'd wager that'd be an intentional misspelling, so as to add the 'prick' part.

Do you mean plural names or a singular name here? It's hard to decide. A sesquipedalian something is too long, for example if you write down your opinion about a cube model in two thousand words, that's a sesquipedalian post. I don't know if any of those names mean 'fried ham'.

Back on topic, I remember when this sort of thing would give rise to numerous flames that would drive away the newbie. The attitudes are generally better than before these days. Maybe we actually have Derek Smart and his crap to thank for that, since at least it got people out of that reality denial mindset where they refused to even mention FS3 and got extremely pissed at anyone who did. :p
