This whole thread is...

...wow.
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

I see it.

What the hell is a runway doing so far in the middle of nowhere?

Those are six runways right? 3 big, 3 small

How "convenient" you can't zoom in to that part all the way.

The closest thing I could think of is a old SAM base. But, why they would have one like that out there is beyond me.

Look more like slagheaps than holes IMO; the top seems to be too light for an indentation.

We see here, that the sunlight comes from south/south-east when the picture was taken. And all of the holes/slagheaps are shadowed towards that direction. Yes, the tops/bottoms are bright, I guess the sun was high enough to shine to the very bottom of the crater, so only the slopes toward SSE were in the shadow.

-> thus, methinks those are explosion craters.

And I think thats the one Bob mentioned. That sure was a big bang.

You're right, I think; I've read it's subsidence craters from underground nuclear test explosions.
