IIRC Doom3 now goes for cheap though, below even the $30 mark on special.

I'll be waiting a few months to see how the prices pan out and performance against other consoles goes.

I really wanna get the new Nintendo, just because it looks like a tiny black video cassette. That's awsome. ^_^

Save your money for the cheaper Nintendo Revolution!! You'll be able to download games from every past Nintendo Console at a tiny cost if anything at all...!

Or I could always keep my old Nintendo consoles at no additional cost whatsoever.  Seriously, in 1988, I could understand shelling out for NES games, but I'm not sure I could justify even a quarter-per-game charge to rebuild my NES collection on the Revolution in 2005.  I know I can't justify spending a penny on rebuilding my NES collection as long as my NES console and cartridges still work.  Likewise with my SNES and N64.

Honestly, I make a point to not buy games immediately after release anymore.  I'll usually wait a couple months and save ten to twenty dollars, or if I've got something else occupying my time, I'll wait until the game gets rereleased, bundled with its expansion pack(s) for the same price it would have been unbundled.  Of course, sometimes I've just got to walk right past the new releases and hit the bargain bin.  Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 for ten dollars?  Don't mind if I do...

Sometimes you can get great prices at video rental stores like Blockbuster. I got a sweet Gamecube game, (Smuggler's Run: Warzones), for just $10.

Of course, being the loyal Nintendo fan that I am, I would never buy an Xbox360 for over $10. Alight maybe $20, or rather $30, or $40....

You can complain all you want about 60$ for a game, but the way things are now, its too difficult for anything other than a major hit game to make any money. plus, its called inflation, games have been 50$ since the dawn of time, everything else has risen. Its just the way of things.

Why spend $400-600 on a console atall?  Just wait 6-12 months and not only will it be about half prices, the range of games will have doubled, you'll have more buying options (i.e. special offer packages) and you'll be able to make an informed judgement over which has the best games.

well, yeah..
Australians won't get the 360 until around march or so, next year, prolly later for the other consoles, (unless nintendo and sony have something up their sleeves), which is a blessing in disguise, it means we can make a more informed choice about what console to buy, and what games, too, it also allows us to see all the americans ***** about whatever the hell they don't like about a particular console..

besides, the first thing i'm gonna blow a major wad of cash is on a radeon x850, (or whatever the top-of the line radeon card for AGP is when i get the money saved up) then a new 19" CRT monitor.. (i have a viewsonic model lined up, professional graphics grade)

so a new console isn't on the top of my "must buy" list.

what the first console sales will hinge on, would be the release titles available.. nothing else, no amount of graphical or advertising clout would make up for having sweet **** all in the games department.
