After finally getting enough money to buy a time card, and freeing up enough space to install it, World of Warcraft simply refuses to install.
Partway through the four-disk installation, at apparently random points, my computer either freezes or shuts down. While this has been known to happen every so often in general, I've tried installing WoW about 5-6 times, and every single time it does it, without fail.
At first I thought my CPU was overheating. So I cleaned out the heatsink, wiped off the old thermal paste and applied a new coat. Then I thought maybe my power supply was too puny, so I replaced it with a different one, the new one being 450W. After all that, I though maybe it was still too hot, so I waited until night-time, and started installation immediately after letting my comp cool off for a while (just you dare laugh at me!). And still, no dice.
The thing is, I had WoW installed before, on the exact same computer, with the same hardware (except my new, more powerful PSU), and it worked fine. It sounds stupid, but could it be that my hard-drive is somehow overheating (it's quite hot to the touch.) My options right now are kind of limited. I've gotten to the point where I'm considering freeing up about 4 gigs and creating ISOs out of all the discs, as distant a hope as that presents, I'm that desperate.
