Let's see if my evil ISP crashes when trying to make this post *this time:*

Very nice. Avoided cheap scares like Doom 3 and the AI is actually bright, unlike Far Cry which is preoccupied with blowing itself up with explosive barrels (even Doom 3's monsters are bright enough to run from them most of the time). Plus it uses displacement maps like Half-Life 2 promised to use in bullet hole effects.

The girl itself isn't scary but:
Spoiler:
...the guy who appeared when you were at the bottom of the ladder surprised the hell out of me since I expected it to be some sort of attacking zombie like in Doom 3. I unloaded a full clip into him as he did nothing and vanished.

See Halo 2

Little girls ARE scary!!! :)

I got "The Shining" vibes from the scare sequences. Samara from "The Ring" aint got nothing on the twins from "The Shining", not to mention the elevator of blood.Though the blood with girl on ceiling was done quite well.

It's almost like the developers know that most gamers simply don't care whether they can see their feet or not.

There are a lot of other things that "most gamers" don't care about, but that are standard in games. It just looks silly when you look down and there is nothing there.

Thief 3

But the demo was really great, I liked it a lot. The last time I was this exited while playing an FPS was AvP1. Nice scripting with the paranormal scenes from Monolith.
Habeeb it...

looks like Monolith has set out to own Valve..(own, as in beat)

if anybody can remember "trespasser" you can look down and see your character's clevage and a little tatoo that showed you how much health was left. :p

The trick should be to make it an option, like so many other things. The ability to choose which hand you hold your gun in and so on. It's not a necessity to the game but it's a nice little attention to detail that gets it how you want it.

Not that developers should give up on making good games in favour of including options, but the options sometimes make the difference between a good FPS and a game that can really shine.

Oh, got a link for the demo.

and more importantly, will it run on a creaky FX5600?

It ran on my GeForce4 Ti4200 rather respectably, so it'll run on yours quite well...

I'm going to try this again with higher settings. The only thing I'll leave the same is the DX8 shaders, my FX5600 just cries at DX9 shaders, despite being  DX9 card. :hopping:
