How to get Freespace 2 Open with OpenGL setup Install correctly
Hi. I heard about this great open source program and I would like to try it out. but heres just one problem. I am very confused on what needs to be required and what needs to be installed first. I already installed it but I get alot of errors such as a insufficient version of Open GL.

I have Windows XP SP2 with NVidia geForce FX5500 and I have 1536MB ram with 222GB. its a monster PC and I want to get thsi baby installed perfectly. I am probably going to reinstall FS2 and install FS2 Open correctly. what do I need to install in order?

You don't need to reinstall. Simply download a build from the recent builds forum and point the launcher to that.

FS2_Open 3.6.5 has a bug which makes it think that you don't have a new enough version of OpenGL. The bug is just in the 3.6.5 and other older builds. Anything from the last couple of months in Recent Builds should sort that problem out.

And does that work with FRED as well as FS Open? I really wanna get mission building, but can't cause FRED doesn't detect any new OGL drivers :(

Yep. You'll need one of the recent builds that includes FRED obviously (Not all of them do).

If you're getting into FREDding there's a whole bunch of good info in my FAQ to help you on your way :) If some of it is a little too advanced now try it again after a few months of FREDding :)
