Hiya, hate to make my first post a tech question, but I can't seem to resolve this myself. I found out about the SCP some time ago, but never got around to playing it. For no particularly reason a bunch of friends and I wound up talking about space sims today, so inevitably FS2 came up, and remembering the SCP, a flurry of digging up cds, downloading and installing commenced.
So, I now have SCP 3.6.5 installed, the various mv_ high quality files installed (except music, which did not seem to work, so I removed it).
Game runs fine in 1600x1200 with all widgets turned on, but the in-mission SPEECH is not working. The briefing audio works, as do all of the sfx and the music. The speech in combat starts talking briefly (makes a slight hitching sound as the first syllable is spoken), then the audio cuts out until the next paragraph, then it repeats (hitch, silence).
Needless to say, this is a bit frustrating. Is this a common problem that has an easy fix, or something that would require more details from me to pin down? I searched the forums and the Mantis bug database, but didn't find anything
I've tried it with and without the various mv_ files, DirectSound or EAX, nothing seems to work. It seemed to work *once*, the voices played for a bit in the second mission, then cut out again about half way through.
The voice volume level control on the options menu exhibits the same behavior (first part of the audio test plays, then cuts out instantly)
Any ideas?
