I was lounging on my bead on a weeknight pondering about the good times- the present. But now that I am right in the middle of my campaign and I have realized that it is a lot more work than I origonally thought and I think that there is no possibility that I will finish until summer. Then I thought- with a horrified look on my face- how much longer will Freespace 2 last? Will the popularity die out? I ask you all this question.

The community isn't going anywhere.  There will still be plenty of people who are interested in FS by summer, maybe longer.  The community may be small, but we're a persistent group.  We'll be here.  Will you?

I think that after all of these big campaigns are done, and people see just how much we can do with the FS engine, they'll want more  

Also with all of the cooperation between big campaign projects, I'm sure that the community will want to give some more, even if it's a final gesture before moving to other pastures like I-War2.

iwar2 dude! I wasn't really willing to try it, believe me ( hard, complicated etc), but once I've tried it, I just can't stop now

lol, The shame is understandable.

I hate to agree with much of anything said on the [shudders] VBB, but if FS isn't dead, then it is definately dying.

Interplay has gone TU, THQ thinks of it as a *******  child, there will be no sequel, PXO and Squadwar have been in and out of trouble lately...

Fortunately, there's at least [looks at registered members count] four-hundred dedicated, screaming fans here who still want more.  While the FS franchise might be flat on it's back doing the "dance of the dying cockroach" there still seems to be plently of life left in the MOD comunity who simply will not let it slip away into the dark.

I'll keep playing (and be interested in) FS until a better version like it comes out. And I mean a game that has nebulas, beams, a great story, and flying non-newton style (like the FS games).

And if a game like that does come out, then I might still be into FS because I'm sure I would need to upgrade my wimpy 350Mhz computer for a game like that, and I don't see something like that happening for another year or more.

I, for one, am NOT going to let this game die. My work at FRED Zone will see to that.

Once the new FRED Zone "fast track" package of nine new coops gets validated, some life should return to this game. Since it was sent in to [V] less than two weeks ago, I expect it will be validated in less than three weeks.
