Too bad my PC won't run it... Or is that really a loss since Bathsheda says the X360 version is better anyway. I need to get around to upgrading my PC one of these days nonetheless.

The X360 version doesn't have the construction set. Until recently the general statements have been that the PC/XBOX versions are the same minus the construction set.

Anyway, on XBOX you're limited to 720p as the max resolution.

No, 1080i is the other option. However, then you sacrifice framerate due to the interlaced signal.

Well, there's still Tamriel Rebuilt along with BH/BB mod to keep the 'winders occupied.

This is the sequel to Morrowind, right? I never really got in to that game, not my cup of tea I guess. In any case, those screens look pretty good but nothing groundbreaking.

Oblivion's been top of my wishlist for pretty much all of this year. I'm not too convinced by all the hype surrounding the game, but the most interesting thing I read about it was something on Gamespy:

In fact, one of the interesting problems that the team has had to face came about precisely because the AI is so good. According to Howard, the AI has caused guards to decide to eat and go hunting deer, only to get themselves arrested for attacking something. When they fight back against the arresting guard, the other guards see a fight and try to join in. In not too much time, every guard in the town was involved in the scuffle, which left the rest of the town open to thievery by other NPCs, resulting in empty stores.

If the AI routines create such unscripted situations it'll certainly be groundbreaking.

I've played Morrowind and I liked it - interesting world to explore, nice main plot, many sub-quests etc. - one of the best CRPG!
Howewer the irritating thing was that uou had to travel so long to deliver 20 bottles of spirits to a isolated mine somewhere in the middle of nowhere...

On the other side the subquests lacked a bit of story = deliver, kill, find  or sometimes get someone to give you something (support, item) Baldurs Gate 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, Fallouts or Arcanum had   better story based subquests to be honest....

Though if I had the right PC I would play Oblivion no matter what...

Supposedly, Oblivion will have better NPC's and more interaction with the world...

If this delivers (+the AI), the graphics won't be needed to make it groundbreaking..

Well, it's pretty I suppose.  I'm gonna have to wait until reviews start coming in before I really consider it though, since the things that really ticked me off about morrowind aren't being talked about.

Hmm, besides having some very old hardware how can you people be sure if your computer will run it or not ? I mean I have not seen any requirements posted anywere. An athlon64 3000+ 939/1Gb RAM/NV6600 (PCI-E) should run it ?

shoot for at least 1,1.5ghz, 512mb-1gb ram, decent videocard, say, radeon 9600/nvidia counterpart..

You know, I'm just about ready to start banging my head to the wall when I see people wondering whether or not the game will run on their 64bit processors and PCI-E cards. My old A2100+ with GeForce Ti4800 was able to run all the new games decently (ok, bf2 was the first one that didn't work) until the GPU melted. I mean, can't people play games unless all the graphic options are turned on and fps is over 60?

Hehe, Lt.Cannonfodder I understand you fully. I had an Athlon 1ghz for the last 4 years (or so), and it's just that I couldn't play anymore a lot of things (not to mention compiling programs took so long, being a developer this sucks big time) and the time was for an upgrade (I usually upgrade my computer every 3-4 years).

Sorry for the confusion, I didn't realised that I had a (as it seems) pretty good system there (I thought I have what you call now a "medium" setup). About graphics and all, I am no 1st person shooter gamer with one exception: Doom3. Since it was released and because you have native Linux version (really, I don't have Windows heh) I had to play it so when I upgraded I had to make sure Doom3 plays with all details on :)

PS: yes, Morrowind plays just fine on cedega :)

For a game that chews up modern hardware so easily, they should really release a 64-bit version to take full advantage of the x64 technology, but it doesn't look as if it's even under consideration. :(
