"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

I didn't understand it either...till I got drunk a few times.  Its not bad...provided that you are in safe place, someone is ensuring that nobody goes and does something stupid, and you don't drink yourself so silly that you start painting floors.

I draw lines at that sort of thing...

...see the thing about being drunk is this.  You don't, at least not normally (a few people do), turn into some magical person that doesn't exist.  You're still you...except that you're a little less inhibited to say what you think and perhaps do what you are thinking as well.  There are times, when I haven't consumed a drop of alchohol, where I will illicit the same behavior.

Now there are some people who's personality changes completely. Those people worry me a bit more.  But at least for myself, I know that being a bit drunk is still being me just a little bit louder, a little bit more prone to random dancing on the spot and slightly friendlier than the average (but not anything unusually friendly).  As an added bonus, apparently I'm really funny too.  But that probably has to do with my straight edge sort of take on life.

If I drank people would be dead. And it's not like I'm all "Wow he's scary and so special", I mean it in a very bad way, I'd actually want to kill people. And I'd be in jail because I wouldn't be coherent enough to plan an escape from the police which would own me. Bad mojo.

As Ice said, drinking unleashes the "self" that is subdued by rational behaviour and logical thought... well, at the very least, socially acceptable manner.

In short, drinking is not for those who are prone to doing dangerous things. As far as being funny when you clog a few, hey, go for it. The only danger that exists there is making an ass out of yourself, so there is no danger of doing any significant damage.

Well underneath some of us are axe wielding maniacs and others are stand up comedians who are normally not quite as outgoing.

Either way :)

Getting drunk is overrated, I've done that myself several times and I don't have intentions on repeating it on regular basis.
About underaged topic, personally I believe that 18 is still too young to be considered as an adult. 20 would be better in my opinion.

Thanks all. 2 Threads... huh. Never would have thought. :)

I've been drunk before. Two fridays ago actually. It was fun, I laugh alot when I'm drunk apparently... and eventually dance... :wtf: But it's not something I intend to do all the time. And certainly not tonight, where I have three classes in the morning and one is assigning the test material.
Maybe tomorrow night, but I doubt it.

Edit; yea, Kaz. 2 Logins... Snipes, and Raa. I've had alot over the years... and I've slowly grown sick of them all.
I go by Taristin on all of the forums I'm active on now. I intend to use it for atleast the next couple of years, until I get tired of being associated with it again. :sigh:
