  • Groooove Evening, viewers!
Anyone know if Acer monitors are any good? I found one with the right price, 19", 8ms response time, and DVI, all of which I'd lke. Anyone had good/bad experience with Acer?

At only $290 after rebate, the price is right. Specs for those who don't want to go to the link:
Samsung 915N-Black 19" 8ms LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 700:1 0.294mm Pixel Pitch

The only real problems I have with it is that it can't go to 1600x1200 resolution (but I don't think I can afford an LCD that could anyway) and it's really really stripped down to the basics, i.e. no DVI input. Would this be sufficient to deter you from buying it? Or is the price right enough?
Decisions, decisions. :doubt: Thanks for your input.

That's the exact same one i have (except in silver), baught it a few weeks ago, sorks very well!
actualy, mabye not.

yep. :)

16ms response time tho, which definitely works for me. the 5 year warranty is seks as well. some crts hasn't even lasted that long for me. and yeah, I realize the warranty is mostly vapourware, but still...

Of all things my 17" flat panel just went... only 2 years old.. was working fine and then started to shake and act messed up. Is this a good deal? http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4113&category_id=4009

Its in my price range, i dont want another 17'' and i want the DVI output. Every other 19" in the stores were +400.

My current main screen is an AL1912, the 16ms, non-DVI equivalent of the one you found. It's a good one. I've had it a few months now with no problems. No ghosting, either.

It's 8-bit and has a good contrast ratio so the image quality should be fairly good, but the 20ms response time is rather high. That L90D is cheaper and probably a better choice overall. You can try it out though, since Dell is one of the very few internet resellers with a no hassle return policy in the first three weeks.

yeah, it's always to good to have that, as monitors are one of those things that you hold on to for a while.

My CRT only has a three year warranty (will last up to some time in 2008), which is the standard period these days, but it's been out of production for a while now so if it ever breaks I will just be getting a refund of the MSRP. Of course, I originally paid less than MSRP for it, so that's not bad. :D
