I put this in my "big project" thread, but then realised brinskter didnt allow external linking anymore and it doesnt seem anyones even viewed it so i'll just cut and paste my post here.

*message begins*
i figured i'd put it into this topic considering it has some bearing..i wanna use it as the "flagship" - or one of the ships the storyline revolves around.
Yes...ive been working into my havok model again (you're all sick of seeing it no doubt!). But i need your advice.

Im trying to work out what would look good where so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you think the geometric details are wrong, or the texturing looks crap (which it does), tell me and tell me what i could do better.

This is only the forward section as im building it that way (my machine is way to slow to do it all in one go)

Remember the objective for this is to be a part of a totally-CGI freespace (preferably)-based mini film.

looks like brinkster have stopped allowing us to embed images too..oh well..i'll just put the links here then

UPDATE-
Looks like they've stopped allowing external linking full stop.
*message ends*

Take a peek please guys - i need some feedback.

That is one l33t model. Could use some more polys on... no, wait, nowhere. I'm not all that experienced with high-poly models so I can't really give any more advice

Well as you said "the texturing is wrong" and some chunks (like the four front prongs) had odd angles with the UV map alignments.

Anyhow, GTVIDn Wraith? That's a mouthful, the GTI didn't have special prefixes for their ships but did use a Norse naming convention.

So....

GTD Tyr...

Tyr lost his hand, etc. etc. dealt with a serpent I believe and betrayal by Loki.

Since allied intelligence wants as little to do with the GTI as possible, such a ship named after the betrayal of Loki (the old regieme) works well.

On where to add detail, I'd say on the back section the two "sub space taps" could use some detail to avoid the surfaces seeming so flat.

Some of the tile texture areas I'd work as outrisings, and I'd add in some wire sections like on the Millenium Falcon in Star Wars.

The fighterbay looks great, with some red warning lights and loading docks worked in, sweetness.

Finally, on the ship nameplate *please* use the STOP typefont which is used on all FS craft

After flicking around some ideas i've come up with a "proto-plot".

The initial prologue will be set almost 200 years after the destruction of capella.

If anyone beleives there will be a big problem realising this then post here.

I DO plan to build some user made campaigns into the timeline but they will have to fit -

I can't cram everyones' campaign in! (or I might be able to but not in their origional form)

the GTVIDn wraith was the working name for the origional contest entry model.  Obviously since this is set a while afterwards the "G***" naming convention will have little meaning...probably.

The mapping needs adjustment on all faces that are not on one of the major planes - they seem out of orientation on the angled surfaces.

I'd also suggest using different tones for the same map around the model - make the diffuse color map less than 100% and alter the main diffuse color setting to make the map brighter, darker, blueish, any other color, and alternate teh maps throughout the model.

Using a completely different map on some sections would also help, like on the walls of the side extrudes and on it's roof, for an instance. I would also use a different map when there's a bevelling effect (like on the four forward tips).

It's a very good model, keep up the good work...
Probably away. Contact through email.

My campaign happens almost 100 years (97) after Capella
But I don't think it'll fit with your plot. There's some ...major events that you may not want to have to keep
