Crashing while loading certain missions
I've been able to play TBP with minimal crashing up to a few weeks ago. Certain missions will continously keep on crashing during the loading screen and TBP always crashes at the 9th loading bar.

Some missions that crash while loading for example are Nobody Expects and Nightmare Scenario from the RW campaign.

The culprit seems to be the ATI opengl DLL file telling from the log file but, I've had no problems playing FS2 Open in OpenGL and also TBP will play fine in Direct 3D.

I have the RW campaign updated to 2.1 but it was doing this before 2.1. Also TBP is up to date with latest version.

I've tried installing older video drivers and the newest drivers, setting all graphic features in display properties to disabled or default and even disabling all graphic options in the launcher.

I've run the game with the FS open 3.6.7 debug exe and created a log file and you only need the first 10 or so lines from the errorlog file correct?

And here's the Debug Log .

Hope you can find what the problem is.

What ATI driver version are you using?  Does upgrading help any?  Does the -novbo cmdline option make a difference?

Nope the -novbo commandline doesn't help and I'm using 8.162.0.0 version drivers right now which is the latest available from ATI's site.

How about using 3.6.5 and see if it's still crashing on you.

Yeah, I tried running it using 3.6.5, as well as using Goober's 7-22 and 7-28 builds. And also just tried redmenace's latest builds but still crashes at the same loading progress bar.

I just wanted to compare my error log with yours to see if we're having the same sorts of issues with TBP Raider Wars.

Try with -noibx on 3.6.7 and see if that does anything.  It will make mission loading slower but if that works then you just need to delete all of your IBX files since one of them has gotten corrupted somehow.  And since I don't think you said already, what other cmdline options are you using?

It's obvious that it's some OGL thing and unfortunately the error reporting function is extremely non-specific.  That's one of things that I'm fixing in the OGL upgrade but it will be a while before that's ready for public use.

Thanks for the note.  I appreciate this.  I put -noibx in there, deleted the IBX files in the cache, and while it did run for half of the mission, it still crashed.  Let me give you what I have in the command line, and then the errorlog.

C:\Program Files\The Babylon Project\fs2_open_r.exe -spec -glow -jpgtga -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -nobeampierce -dualscanlines -ship_choice_3d -targetinfo -orbradar -3dwarp -tbpwarpeffects -snd_preload  -noibx

(can't seem to get the extra space out on the end of this line -- program doesn't recognize the command sign.)

And the errorlog:

fs2_open_r caused an Access Violation in module d3d8.dll at 001b:6db693e8.
Exception handler called in Freespace 2 Main Thread.
Error occurred at 9/22/2005 00:45:58.

991 MBytes physical memory.
Write to location 366f3000 caused an access violation.

Finally, the video card I have is an Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME grapics card.

Well, it is getting late here...gotta run!

Ok, tried the -noibx commandline but still crashes and the only other commandline I'm using right now is -allslev.
