The [V] ships as they were supposed to be?
WE all know that some [V] ship have multi-part 8or normal) turrets with multiple fir points. Retail FS2 doesn't make use of that, but FSO does, so I went trough all the POF's of ships and table entries to match them up.

The biggest winners in terms of firepower are the Mentu(gets a big boost), Aeolus, Deimos,  Sobek, Typhon (double the flak power) and Orion and Iceni (this one has a flawed tbl entry made by [V] - the turrets were totaly mixed up and it even had missiles in the Primary banks!!!)
the Collie and the Hecae I won't put here yet...

In any case, here area few main ships with "proper" tbl" entries:

NOTE - I used Vasudan turrets in these tables and Medium turret versions. You can get them from Hades Combine from my WeaponsPack

Odd - does this mean this is still an issue?  I had thought at least the Orion triples worked properly now, as the guns occasionally fire very rapidly.  Only use the one spawn point, though.

What does this do to the Typhon/Orion firepower balance - such as it was?

Excellent work, in any case.  I'll be trying these out.

It breaks balance, thus it is worthless to campaigns using retail data.  For non-retail, non stock campaigns, though, this could be pretty useful.

The turret stats for the Colossus (including the deleted ones) are pretty...scary.  That thing would've bum-shagged the Sath if it'd been given the original loadout, it was creaking with extra beams.

Actually, given that I use a Terran Huge Turret that does 1000 damage and has a range allmost as a beam cannon - the Orion and Colossus become really scary without any extra beams... :D

EDIT: original loadout?? I dodn't know it had a different loadout.. Where do you know that from?

EDIT3: The Collie has several MX-52 missiles slated on Primary Banks - which means they won't fire..Tehy did the same as with the Iceni - made several turrets useless with this :(

I see you've never actually tried to fight a Colossus before.  Primary/secondary doesn't matter, and the MX-50's will fire.  Albeit they do practically nothing.

This low fire rate is due to the AI. Unless the AI is teh ultimate, and you're playing on insane, weapons on turrets will take a loooooong time to fire compared to what it says in the table.

Or you can stick the "same turret cooldown" flag on every single weapon. :D

If are going to break the balance anyway you really ought to give the Mentu some anti-capital ship beams, or even a single one as the fluff states it should have those. And BTW fix the firingpoints in the model, as standard Mentu has some guns on top deck firing below and incidentally through the ship (haven't check if there is a fixed version in media vps). I could try to find my version of it after i get home.

There are also other oddities with (V) models, open the Terran AWACS with Modelview and try figure what kind of an idiot has placed the turret firingpoints and normals. Also that one of the turrets is rotating with the sensor dish doesn't really accomplish anything...

Though this is sort of a threadjacking i really believe that obvious bugs in (V) models should be fixed when they are HTLd and preferably before it, things like Aeolus' 4 extra (overlapping) turrets and other strange stuff... (Hippocrates' turrets)

Oh really? Can you explain to which turret is 'laser turret (bank 4)'s normal ment for? I checked the Vasudan AWACS and it had a another problem, destroyed radar subsys rotates along different axis than the working radar subsys, intentional?

since I use Vasudan Medium Turrets as his loadout (around 560 damage and a decent range) a Mentu has become really powerfull.
and hte POF errors I have fixed but didn't put it up for download. I though I saw a HTL Mentu out there that should have that fixed.

If that's so I see no reason why this *shouldn't* go into the MediaVP as an optional part.

I know, the MVP isn't about mods, it's about canon stuff, however from a certain aspect this *IS* canon.
The load of oddities left by :V:'s rushed tabling isn't canon by anyway I see it - those are 'bugs' swept under the code and the mission design.
Those are bumps to iron out.

Trashman already took the time to go over the tables, make them sensible and tranform the ships into what they're meant to be...
...not to mention tested the whole damn lot.

So this *SHOULD* go into the MediaVP as an *OPTIONAL* part.
I don't know how the rest of the players feel about it, but canon and nostalgy aside; I want to finally face the capships as the awsome weapon platforms they were meant to be instead beam-zapping huge tin-cans waiting for the fighter/bombers to crack them open with ease.

(On  the later - yeah, the AI really needs work - though just because it crappy we shouldn't accept :V:'s sloppy tables as 'all-balanced' holy scriptures on modding.)

No, table changes of anything other than purely graphical nature have absolutely no place in the MediaVP.  We're still having issues with the ballistic ammo for one weapon that Lightspeed got into there.  Trashman contradicts himself in that his changes make some missions easier/harder, which is by definition breaking balance.  If you want to use these tables, go ahead, but they should always be installed manually and unofficially because they affect the original campaign in non-trivial ways.  That's the complete opposite of what the MediaVPs are supposed to accomplish.

With normal weapons used (not mine) the difference would be hard to notice on the bigger ships (but on ships like Aeolus you would notice it more).
The mission examples I put there are WITH my weapons use, and they change things a lot (hell, Imagine what an Orion gains in firepower with 5x3 turrets that fire a salvo every 5 seconds, do 1000 damage per shot and have a range of over 3,5klicks?! - that's 12000 damage per turret every 20 seconds)

with normal weapons there are practicly allmsot no differences.


That said, StrattComm has a point - it's not for the Media VP (and I don't recall ever saying it was).
It's just a table change and it can easily be downloaded/changed without sticking it in a big file...

I think now you could just stick it in a modular table and have it parsed in to replace the relevant data.  Which would make manual installation easy for those who want to use it.

The reason I'm so adament about this not being a media VP addition is that the ships it will effect the most are some of the ones we see most often; the Aeolus and Orion especially are mainstays of the NTF fleet in the main campaign and the player fights them on many occasions.  But we're on the same page here.
