[Unknown Target]

Well, I finally got a car. You may remember a previous thread, where I posted my soon-to-be vehicle - however, it turned out that my aunt could not find the keys, and thus, the car shall sit there forever.
However, I did have the good fortune to snag a very nice 98 Chevy Malibu for about 1400 bucks. The paintjob (a turquoise color) on the hood is crap, there's a huge brown hole, and when I started to hit higher speeds, not only did the steering wheel shake, but paint started to sheer off the hood
My digicam broke, so this will have to do for now, until I can get some suitable piccies.
Otherwise, the car runs great - killer sounding engine, got A/C (simultaniously a must/rarity for down here), and it only costs me thirty bucks to fill up, from zero to full.

Get your tracking and steering rack checked, last thing you want is for your steering to lock up or suddenly jump massively out of calibration at high speed

Other than that and the peeling turqouise paint, nice find

Your tires may just need to be rotated but, still be safe and get the whole column checked.

You'd better have the whole thing looked over actually.  And let them drive it to see what's happening.  I had a similar problem in my Honda Accord last year with the steering that gradually got worse, turns out it was the front axel and had nothing to do with the steering.  And besides, if it's new to you, you can't really justify relying on it without having it checked over by a mechanic.
